50th Anniversary

On Sunday, November 23, 2025 we marked the 50th Anniversary of our first public worship service (to the exact day!). That first service was held at the North Hills YMCA. Due to the holidays, we delayed an official celebration of God's faithfulness until the weekend of February 21-22, 2026.

On Saturday evening, we had a wonderful dinner, trivia, and sharing of memories. Sunday morning we had an extended time of fellowship before (and after) the Anniversary Worship Service. Rev. Mark Bender, pastor of Calvary PCA in Norfolk, VA preached from Romans 3:20-25a "The Doctrine on Which the Church Stands or Falls." Mark spent his middle school through college years at Covenant, and so it was fitting to have a "son of Covenant" come and preach for this momentous occasion. During the service a letter from Barb Perrin (wife of founding pastor Rick Perrin) was read highlighting some of her memories, and a video history was shared (which you can view below).

We were also blessed to have former pastors J.D. Funyak and Dean Ulrich participate with sharing memories, and leading portions of our Worship Service. Their involvement was particularly special because their presence represented another anniversary, a pivotal point in our church's history. On April 1st, 2001 (25 years ago), the church plant, led by J.D. Funyak (Covenant Community) and Covenant Presbyterian Church lead by Dean Ulrich, merged and became one congregation. Without the humility and vision of these two pastors (and their respective elders), the history of Covenant may have ended, but in God's mercy, this congregation has continued to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ for 25 more years, and by God's grace for many years to come.

In this video you will hear audio from planting and founding Pastor Rick Perrin when he preached at our 40th Anniversary Worship Service, and the church's second Pastor, Bob Eickelberg when he preached at the Dedication Service of our education wing in February 2019.
