“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Hebrews 13:20-21

May 2020 Update

The Shepherd’s Door is doing relatively well at this point. Of course the store portion has been closed up for 2 months but opened up last Friday. We have still been providing the backpack buddies weekend food for the Northgate kids even while the school has been closed.

Since our ministry is staffed primarily with volunteers our expenses throughout the last 10 weeks have purely been utilities and rent.

I would appreciate prayer as we are currently looking to find people for two positions, the only two paid positions we have. We are looking for someone to supervise our summer breakfast & lunch program, which this year will be limited to “grab and go” (no outreach this summer due to distancing requirements).

The other position we are looking for is a new executive director. We have been without one since the end of October, and were planning to use the time until March to reevaluate the position and also to reevaluate the ministry goals. The executive board is very much of the opinion that the Lord is calling us to a more intentionally evangelical mission.

However, since the virus hit and destroyed our 1st and 2nd quarter income stream we are very pleased that we did not have that salary to have to pay.

The ministry did not qualify for any federal aid, but fortunately it was unneeded. So we would cherish any prayers for our ability to fill these two positions and for the Lord to show us new ways that we can minister in the North Boroughs communities, and for our finances to return to normal.

Please Consider Volunteering!

All of our staff, excluding the Executive Director, are volunteers. We are in need of your support for this vital ministry, whether it is your time, talents or treasure. Listed below are some ways you can get involved.
